Juice of the Day

Cool down and refresh with this simple 3 ingredient juice!

Summer is in full swing and it's only getting hotter. August is the month where we are starting to grow a little weary of the rising temps and if you're on the east cost like me, it's HUMID to boot.

This refreshing mix of cucumber, apple and ginger is the perfect way to cool down and stay hydrated in the summer heat. Not only is this drink refreshing but it's actually has real life benefits.

Cucumber Juice delivers powerful antioxidants that delay cell damage from oxidative stress which is linked to cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, heart disease and eye degeneration. It also helps with weight loss and has B vitamins that protect against acne for youthful, glowing skin. In fact, cucumber juice is one of the most beneficial drinks on the planet! And right now, you can find regional cucumbers at your local grocery store or farmers market, score!

Apples are notorious for their healing and medicinal properties. They are used to heal everything from an upset stomach to fighting off viruses. Apple Juice specifically, when diluted may hydrate children better than an electrolyte sports drink (which also contain artificial ingredients and fake sugars, which dehydrate you further.) Apple Juice contains polyphenols (found mostly in the skin - keep skin on when juicing) which help lower inflammation and prevent disease causing oxidative stress. These polyphenols also protect your bad (LDL) cholesterol from oxidation, reducing your risk of heart disease. Apple Juice also protects your brain from aging and has been shown to relieve anxiety in patients with Alzheimers disease. (source: healthline.com) Opt for organic apples whenever possible.

Ginger is known for it's soothing effects on the digestive system as well as immune boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. The main oil in ginger, gingerol is effective in fighting morning sickness, colds and flu's. It also helps relieve muscle pain and soreness due to exercise and can also reduce pain associated with osteoarthritis. It can help lower blood sugar and help protect against heart disease. It is also great for indigestion.

Need I say more? This powerful and delicious drink can be made using a juicer or in a blender and then strained through cheese cloth or a nut-milk bag.
